Mapping Waste Wood Volumes

Client: Waste Wood Collection & Treatment Operator

The client required a clear understanding of available waste wood volumes arising from regional waste treatment operators. They needed visibility of material availability along existing transport routes, also insight into complimentary material streams that could supplement core waste wood feedstock without increasing processing complexity or logistics costs.

Approach

The WasteVyne conducted a structured assessment combining operator data, waste classifications and spatial analysis. Material streams were categorised using key EWC codes associated with wood and wood-containing wastes. Alongside core waste wood, the study assessed materials with similar physical or processing characteristics.

Volumes were mapped geographically against established transport corridors to identify supply clusters, optimise haulage distances and highlight opportunities for aggregation.

Outcome & Value

The project delivered an evidence-based view of waste wood availability, supporting more informed feedstock strategy and operational planning. By identifying both core and complementary material streams, the client gained increased supply resilience and flexibility without compromising efficiency.

The outputs now underpin commercial discussions, capacity planning and future investment decisions.
